Enforcement

Evidence of successully gaining the Driver CPC or having undertaken the required 35 hours of periodic training every five years will be by production of the personal Driver Qualification Card (DQC).

In the UK it has been decided that drivers' must always carry their DQC with them when on duty and make it available for inspection by a VOSA examiner on request. Failure to do so may result in the issuing of a fixed penalty against the driver.

Drivers from other European Member States are not required to carry any evidence of completion of periodic training or the gaining of an initial qualification, so it is unclear as to how the authorities will be able to ascertain if foreign based drivers' have acquired a Driver CPC.
