The Driver CPC and existing drivers at 10th September 2008

If you held a category D driving licence on 10th September 2008 (and you have gained the category D by examination) you will not need to take any examinations to continue driving buses and/or coaches for a living.

You have been granted 'acquired rights' and you have up until 9th September 2013 to undertake 35 hours of approved periodic training so that you can gain a Driver Qualification Card (DQC).

Don't be fooled into thinking that you don't need to do anything until 9th September 2013, you need to have completed your first 35 hours of periodic training by then.

What's more, from 10th September 2008 you need to undertake 35 hours of JAUPT approved periodic training in five year cycles from then on, until you decide that you no longer want to drive buses and/or coaches for a living.
